Ol Moran

Our community of Ol Moran is an international community that welcomes young people from Kenya who wish to experience religious life. The Sisters live the Charism in its contemplative dimension, dedicating their time daily to personal and community prayer and, in its active dimension, offering a joyful service of welcome to all those who knock at their door with a particular preference for the poorest of the poor. Other forms of apostolate include the reception and care of disabled children in the house “The Magnificat”, they are children who attend a special section for the disabled of the elementary school of Ol Moran which is located a short distance from the mission. The Sisters collaborate with the “Saint Martin” Association both to carry out in a qualified way the care of the disabled, and to help the local population to develop a more welcoming mentality towards people with disabilities; the commitment in the health field is concretized in the service to the sick who arrive at the dispensary of the parish, of which the Sisters are responsible, and, through the “Mobile Clinics”, to the sick in their villages. The Sisters collaborate with the parish in various pastoral services: catechesis, liturgical animation, youth ministry, catechesis and translation of the liturgy for the deaf and dumb and also teaching sign language to family members of people with this sensory deficit. One of the Sisters collaborates with the school for the deaf and dumb of Sipili, as a teacher and as a member of the didactic direction. An important activity of the community is that of agricultural cultivation which is a source of food resources for the mission and for the local poor, also allows to implement a program called “Food for work” which consists in offering job opportunities in exchange for food. One aspect of this sector is the breeding of dairy goats, as part of the “Goat Project”, to offer a more complete diet to disabled children welcomed into the mission.
